A magic seaside wedding in Italy
This modern couple met at work in their hometown in Ireland. While their families wanted a big celebration, Rebecca and Dave always dreamt about something smaller and intimate. Their found their perfect match in Cinque Terre, at Santa Margherita Ligure, a perfect place for a seaside wedding in Italy.
The bride and groom always travelled to Italy for their vacations and they simply fall in love with this little fisherman village. After a fall vacation, they already knew the perfect place to tie the knot, the Miramare Hotel. A glamourous 4 stars modern hotel, but with all the charm of the Italian Riviera. Miramare had amazing views over the sea and a garden rich of Mediterranean trees and flowers.
Being a small affair, everything was focus on the elegance and romance. The color scheme chosen by Rebecca for her seaside wedding in Italy was all about the pastels and greenery with some purple and lime vivid accents to add a colourful twist. Anna, the florist, created beautiful designs infused of stunning simplicity, using flowers sourced from local farms and in season
The bouquet spoke by itself. Astilbe, baby roses, anemones and greenery in many hues and shades. With a soft ribbon to tie the stem it had a soft and ethereal look that was the perfect complement to the wedding gown.
A Baroque style, the Cathedral of Santa Margerita Ligure is from that age, is already rich of ornaments, golds, and marbles’ design, following this, the choice was to decorate the church with darker flower to tone down all the bright of already onsite. Pew’s bouquets were made with deep purple and green Hydrangeas and the altar was decorated with two vases of flowers.
At the reception, same flowers as the church were used for the seating plan, and once inside the dining room, elegant and big clear vases with bouquets of local flowers.
The Dress & Attire
A beautiful three pieces wedding gown showed up during the getting ready. A shirt, a corset and a short balloon skirt were something unique, very hard to find and see often and absolutely breath-taking. Small little feathers and Swarovski were all over the corset giving a glimmering but delicate effect to the bridal look. Rebecca decided to wear a pair Décolleté shoes from Jimmy Choo: Santa Margherita ligure is well known for its little roads, made of stones, so the bride decided to have a matching pair of ballerinas as a second pair of shoes for her seaside wedding in Italy.
A beautiful headpiece was made with the fabric of the dress left from the alterations, the Dramatic feather added a sophisticated and uncommon look at the bridal style. The bridal look was so ethereal and sublime that left all the guests speechless.
The groom wore a two-piece electric blue suit, tailor made in one of the shops of Santa Margherita Ligure. It was ordered in one of the romantic trips of this couple, and every time there was a fitting this lovely couple used the appointment as an excuse to travel to Liguria.
Lidia, the mother of the bride wore a soft pastel Chanel dress and the mother of the groom chose a complementary color, a pastel blue column dress and a nice lace hat.
The wedding day
The day kicked off with a beautiful weather and bright sun. a pleasant breeze was coming from the sea while Rebecca was getting ready in her room and Dave was having breakfast in one of the local cafes in the city centre. While Rebecca was having her make up done, Dave took some groom portraits with his family.
Considering the spectacular weather all the guests walked to the Church, the Cathedral of Santa Margherita Ligure, while the bride and her father used a Mercedes.
The mass was thoughtful and full of readings about love and the future life together. After the ceremony all the guests were shuttled into a charming bar, with a terrace overlooking the sea. In the meanwhile, this lovely couple, took some shoots on the beach and around the village.
A second aperitif was served at hotel Miramare, in the tropical garden. Finger food and Italian delicacies were served by waiters circulating with trays. The dinner was served in the dining room of the hotel. A room finely decorated with tapestry. The tableware really stood out against the dark colors of the walls. After dinner and intimate party kept going after the cut of the cake in the tropical garden.
